Good magazine details why white roofs are good.
You don't have to remind us -- we've been enjoying one for four years now and it's helped keep inside temps 10-15 degrees cooler than outside. This is quite a difference from Summer 2007 when it was 110 outside and 120 inside thanks to our old black tar roof. Whew.
Some great information available at The White Roof Project.
Hi Hunter, I really enjoy your blog! We're in the market for a new roof now before summer strikes and are wondering about your experience with your foam roof- I believe from Abril. Would you recommend them?

yes. we liked abril quite a bit. there are not a ton of folks out there doing it and they're one of the good ones. as you might have experienced, now would be a good time to investigate new wiring, new ventilation, new HVAC, etc. prior to putting the roof down.

Putting up a white roof is clever as it helps save energy and money. It is, in truth, becoming the customary of the industry lately. Aside from it, it is more relaxing to the eyes, it reflects heat, thus, reducing air-conditioning consumption which is a great help during summer.
