We've had quite a few photoshoots (link / link / link) at the house and we'd certainly like to host a few more. The open, inside-out architecture of Eichler homes is great for both still and moving images.
Eva Kolenko stopped by with models Jayce and Caroline for a photoshoot for Contra Magazine last weekend. The theme of the shoot followed the aesthetic and verve of the film, A Single Man... and Marty gets a cameo. Thanks to the crew (Ian, France, and Alanna) for making it run so smoothly.
Eva brought the gear, models, wardrobe and props (vintage phone and phono, specifically), but the house, landscaping, furniture and accoutrements were ours... perfect for your next photoshoot, right?
It never ceases to amaze me how interconnected the world is.
While at the open house for 3712 Merridan, our friend Mary-Peyton was chatting with another open house visitor, Eva — and Mary-Peyton mentioned this blog to Eva.
As it turns out, Eva is a photographer. She is an alum of our school and has worked on several projects with our department. She grew up in an Eichler in Marin and is hoping to call the house on Merridan "home" one day. She was also looking for a location for an upcoming shoot... and she emailed me.
I was able to visit 3712 Merridan the other day and all I can say is: "wow". It is a gem of a place.
It looks dingy in the pictures, but under the wallpaper, smoke stained walls and carpet is a relatively untouched Eichler and a great floorplan. When going through a place like this -- at least for me -- I'm looking at what it could be more so that what it is. Frankly, presently, it isn't much and not a place that is in move-in condition... but some light-duty renovation would bring this back in short order.
As randomness would have it, the house for sale that I visited today is very close to Jeff and Chanda's house. I met Jeff when he stopped by for some sliding door parts a few years ago with his super-cute daughter, Katie... and — as things go around here — we keep (happily) bumping into one another.
By day, Jeff saves lives at the County Hospital, but it's obvious that he (and a few friends and relatives) have stayed busy in the down-time... their house looks amazing. Take a look.
